Privacy Policy

Noor Radio · Last updated November 5, 2026

Noor Radio (“the app”) is developed by Issameddine Ajmi (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what information the app uses.

Information I collect

I do not collect, store or receive any personal information. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Nothing you do in the app is sent to me.

Information stored on your device

The app saves the following on your iPhone only: your favorite stations, the stations you chose to hide, audio recordings you choose to make, and a temporary copy of the station list so the app opens faster. This data stays on your device and is deleted when you delete the app.

Third-party services

To show stations and play audio, the app connects to servers that I do not control:

When the app connects to these servers, they can see your IP address and technical details such as your device type, as with any website or streaming service. Their own privacy policies apply. I do not receive this information.

Recording

If you tap the record button, the app saves the audio of the station you are listening to as a file on your iPhone. I do not receive these recordings. They are only shared if you choose to share them, for example through the share button. You can delete them at any time in the app.

Identifying a surah

If you tap “Identify”, the app records about 12 seconds of the audio of the station you are listening to and turns the spoken Arabic into text using the speech recognition of your iPhone. The text is then compared with the Quran text stored in the app. The clip is deleted right afterwards. I do not receive the clip or the text.

On iPhones that can do this offline, everything stays on the device. On iPhones that cannot recognise Arabic offline, the app asks for your permission first and then sends the short clip to Apple’s speech recognition service, which processes it under Apple’s privacy policy. If you do not agree, the feature is simply not used.

The Arabic Quran text in the app comes from QuranEnc.com (The Noble Qur’an Encyclopedia) via the open quran-json project.

Reporting a station

If you use “Report station”, the app opens your email app with a pre-filled message to me. I receive only what you choose to send, including your email address, and I use it only to review the station and reply to you. I delete such emails when the matter is resolved.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
